Turf Issues: Who works with whom, about what, when and where?
An examination of the issues of growth and development with regards to
Spiritual Formation, Pastoral Care and Counseling, Behavioral Health
(Psychology and Psychiatry), and Coaching which the new learners confront
as they “get help and support in their new assignment.”
Who does what? Who does when? And, who should be in charge? The
session will start from a series of lists of competencies for each arena, and
then discuss how to help each discipline to know the others better, and how
to help guide new learners in developing their global integrated health plan.
Dr. Evelyn Davis, an experienced cross-cultural trainer with WBT/SIL, has
recently developed a spiritual formation retreat training program that has been
promoted through Next Step. This workshop will provide an overview of those
things normally taught in a more expanded setting.
Developing Spiritual Formation and Reflection/Prayer Sessions Within
an Organization
Discussion will explore the following questions: 1. How should we begin? 2.
What steps are important to take as we try to move forward? 3. Are there
things that should be avoided? 4. Should we begin by offering options for
those who are interested, or get the backing of the organization in a broad
sense first? 5. Should other organizations, agencies, and churches be
invited to attend? Dr. Davis will describe what she has learned from her
experience, and in developing spiritual formation and reflection/prayer
sessions within Wycliffe International and SIL International. There will be a
resource list of what she has developed - pointing out what has gone well,
and what hasn't. A resource CD will be available.
