    My Personal Transformational Journey
The product of leading evangelical institutions, my formational preparation
for a decade of missionary work in Africa and Europe was significantly
lacking. My predominant intellectualist and activist spirituality required a
providential crisis of faith to deconstruct the ineffective pattern and
reconstruct a spirituality of the heart. What can we learn about the patterns
of spiritual formation in the journeys of the cross-cultural workers with
    whom we work?
    A Six-Stage Journey Model
Is there a paradigm of spiritual formation that is larger than our theologies
and missiology?  An overview of the paradigm of spiritual formation adapted
from Hagberg & Guelich's Critical Journey: Stages in the Life of Faith. The
model will be supplemented with insights from Scripture, spiritual tradition,
    and my own experience.
Mindy Caliguire

Mindy is the founder and president of Soul Care (www.soulcare.com), a spiritual
formation ministry. She served in the area of spiritual formation at Willow Creek
Community Church from 2001 to 2004, concentrating on membership, prayer,
curriculum development, and “soul care” for individual staff teams. Prior to
Willow, she and her husband Jeff planted a church in the Boston area, where she
served in a variety of leadership roles for ten years and launched Soul Care in
1998. Mindy mentors leaders—whether formally or informally—by focusing on re-
establishing their spiritual vitality as the primary step towards a lifestyle of
sustainable ministry.  She is the author of the Soul Care ® study guides,
Discovering Soul Care and Spiritual Friendship, and has been a contributor to
Leadership Journal and Conversations.
    Soul Train
What are the reasons for our own spiritual formation in the midst of
missionary service?  We will explore four “Zones” of leadership, looking at
the issues of “speed” and “soul”.
Creating Soul Friends: Forming Life-Giving, Authentic Friendships that
    Strengthen Your Experience of God
God’s loving presence and power can be experienced through intimate, life-
giving friendships, but the pressures and complexities of leadership often
leave us isolated and alone. Learn practical ways to build authentic
relationships through shared brokenness and reckless trust in God.
